Manifeste pour les langues de Bretagne

Confrontées à un État centralisé dont le credo est l’unicité de ses composantes et l’indivisibilité de la Nation, les langues de Bretagne, breton et gallo, sont sur le point de disparaître en dépit des rares concessions politiques, malgré les efforts des militants. Ce faisant, l’État français est en totale rupture avec les conventions internationales et européennes qu’il refuse de ratifier ou d’appliquer. Il est même en contradiction avec sa propre constitution.

Ces langues sont pourtant un élément fondamental de notre identité.

Devant les refus de l’État de les préserver efficacement, la Bretagne doit demander urgemment la dévolution de compétences pour s’occuper elle-même de ses langues historiques et défendre ses intérêts fondamentaux (Art. 1 et 72 de la Constitution).
Ce Manifeste est un appel aux Bretonnes et aux Bretons pour qu’ils exigent de l’État, de la Région et de leurs représentants une politique linguistique adaptée à la Bretagne et comportant la généralisation de l’enseignement de ses langues, la formation d’enseignants en nombre suffisant et leur usage public, éléments  constitutifs et vitaux de leur existence. Cette politique prendra aussi en compte le multilinguisme indispensable dans le monde global actuel.
L’avenir de la Bretagne se joue ici et maintenant, sans plus attendre.

Manifesto for the languages of Brittany.

Appeal to Bretons !
Confronted with a centralized state whose credo is the uniqueness of its components and the indivisibility of the Nation, the languages of Brittany, Breton and Gallo, are on the verge of disappearing despite the rare political concessions, despite the efforts of activists.
In doing so, the French State is completely breaking with international and European conventions that it refuses to ratify or apply. It is even in contradiction with its own Constitution.

These languages are, however, a fundamental element of our identity. and belong to mankind biodiversity.

Faced with the French and belong to State’s refusal to preserve them effectively, Brittany must urgently request the devolution of powers to take care of its historic languages and defend its fundamental interests (Articles 1 and 72 of the Constitution).
This Manifesto is a call to Bretons to demand from the State, the Region and their representatives a language policy adapted to Brittany and including the generalization of the teaching of its languages, the training of teachers in sufficient number and their public use, constitutive and vital elements of their existence. This policy will also take into account the multilingualism which is essential in today’s global world.
The future of Brittany is here and now.
